I live in Indiana. Our house backs up to a salvage store business that uses two dogs to guard the business at night. These dogs bark every night, and I am not exaggerating. The reason for their barking is unknown, but sometimes can be attributed to stray dogs that wander the neighborhood and rile them up. There is then a barking match between the business' two dogs and the strays. We have written a letter to this business and they said they would take care of it. The dogs are still barking every night. It doesn't matter if the dogs are inside or outside, or if the stray dogs are around or not. We go outside in the middle of the night, every night, to yell at them to quiet them down. We have lost at least one hour of sleep every night for the past 6 months.

Is there any legal action that can be taken against the owners of this business? This has gone on long enough.

Yes... and no.
First, have you contated the owner of your complaint in WRITING (certified RRR). If not, do so now. Include a specific timeframe for him to remedy the problem.
Second, if he doesn't remove the problem, contact your local zoning office to make sure that he can operate that business in that location.
Finally, you will need to contact a local attorney who can write a letter on your behalf.... and if necessary request an injunction against them.
