Boundaries anf water run off

My question is in two parts. First, what is the law on planting trees on the boundary lines, and how far off the property line must they plant?

Second, we are having extreme amount of damage to our yard, and we are starting to get water damage in our crawl space due to run off from neighbor property. We are starting to experience a mold smell in our basement and crawl space areas. What can we do??

Unless there is an easement or other setback requirement on their deed, they can plant right up to the property line.

What is causing the runoff? Have the neighbors been overwatering? Broken sprinklers? Have the neighbors changed the grade or drainage on their property?

The run off is coming from inadequate drainage from their downspouts. To my nowledge they have not relandscaped the property.

Are these new downspouts? What has changed to make the drainage suddenly bad?

You want to learn from your city/county govt center if they have a local ord that spells out when a property owner must take steps to prevent drainage going onto anothers property. Once you learn more about that then it is easier for you to decide how to move forward.
