What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? SC

I am about to purchase a piece of land with a septic easement for a drain field on the neighbors property. The easement area is wooded so the trees would need to be removed for the septic drain field. Do I need to get permission from the landowner before taking the trees down and do they have anyway to block us from taking the trees down?

Even with a recorded easement ( assuming that it actually is recorded ) it would help set a better tone to future relations with this neighbor to contact them and let them know you are now going to prepare to build and that includes installation of a septic system and you wanted them to know that in order to do the work in the easement some trees are going to have to be taken down and you would like to know if you should dispose of the trees or if they would like to have the wood left for their use and if they would like to see the ones that have to be taken down beforehand you can arrange that. ( hopefully you wont have any problems with them and this install but at least contacting them about it might make future neighbor relations with them to be smoother than a babies fanny.
