My neighbor is reconstructing the entire front of his house and driveway. Right now he has all concrete and they are using jack hammers etc to take aways the cement. He would like to widen his driveway but our two retaining walls meet eachother. One is up against the other one. My wall has some cracks in it, however there is no loose bricks and it is not at the moment going to crumble. However, the neighbor had several contractors not willing to take down the wall, because it might result in damaging our wall since they are so close to eachother and taking down his wall might take down ours.

If my wall does come down, who is responsible for it? They are trying to say it is in disrepair, because the concrete is cracking ,however, nothing is loose and nothing is falling over . Who would be responsible, because if it weren't for the construction , the wall would be fine.

Thank you for any hepful suggestions you might be able to offer.

Sincerely,
Michele
