What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Indiana

I live on lakefront with an ongoing dispute over an easement that runs along the lakeshore. One neighbor in our subdivision challenged the walking easement as most of us came to know it as to a driving easement. Because of an interpretation, the courts ruled that it was, in fact, a driving easement. How can our deeds say one thing and the courts interpret it as something else?

Is our only recourse to appeal the decision. How long do appeals normally take and how expensive can they become? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Of the judge has already entered a decision, and you don't have any other procedural avenues open (motion for a new trial, etc.), your only real recourse -- assuming you can't settle this amongst yourselves -- is appeal, if you are still within the window to ask for the appellate court to hear the case.

Talk to a local attorney who has experience working with your state's appellate courts, that will ne the best source of information for you.
