What is the procedure for claiming adverse possession? My husband and I have occupied our property since 8/92 and have tried on numerous occasions to contact the owner of the property surrounding ours with regard to purchasing a small portion of said property. The owner has never bothered to return any response whatsoever. The surrounding property, when we took possession, was undeveloped, nothing but scrub brush. During this time, we have kept the property suitably maintained and improved it by planting at least 100 palm trees around the perimeter.
