Legal Boundry Lines

What is the name of your state? My state is Washington, Lewis county. I have a fence on the north side of my peoperty placed the by the owner of the property to the norrh. This fence has appearently been in place some seventeen years. The fence is falling down and appearently has not been maintained. A recent survey placed my property line about 30 feet north of this fence. According to a logging expert my property has been logged upto the fence. My neighbor is maintaining that because of the logging and the fence this allows adverse possession regardess of the survey. Does anyone know of any state or county law or rule which I can refer to in order to resolve this issue.

State laws are pretty easy to research on this issue. You might want to try to google it.

Here is the actual law

Here is another interesting site

It seems like they would have had to pay taxes while using it. Not good for their case. Good for yours though.

I would send them a letter pronto telling them to a get the hell of the land b re-plant all the trees c) send you a check for all revenues collected on harvesting the trees d) put the fence in the right location and fix it and e) don't come back. If they don't cooperate and you have to go hire a lawyer, you will go get some owl activists, call the local news crew and make this really ugly.

I would send them a letter pronto telling them to show you proof they paid the property taxes. If no such proof exists, tell them to a) get the hell of the land b) re-plant all the trees c) send you a check for all revenues collected on harvesting the trees d) put the fence in the right location and fix it and e) don't come back. If they don't cooperate and you have to go hire a lawyer, you will go get some owl activists, call the local news crew and make this really ugly. Let me knows what happens.
