What is the name of your state? Indiana

Our backyard neighbor of more than 15 years came over with a note last night to tell us that she intends to have the privacy fence separating our back yards torn down tomorrow. She claims that it is in bad condition, and since fences are so expensive, she is unsure whether or not she will replace it. This fence completes the fourth side of our completely fenced in yard, which is imperitive to the safety of our three dogs.

What is the fastest way to stop this demolition so that we may research the property line? We have no idea if it is on our property or hers.

Is the fence in bad condition?

Why would she be solely responsible for replacing it?

Ask neighbor to hold off, get survey, and build new fence shared cost on the property line.

It certainly isn't beautiful, but it is functional. We have considered replacing it ourselves, but haven't had the money. I asked her last night to wait so we could determine the property line, and she said she would have her workmen start on a section that does not touch our property.

The fence is "u-shaped", with two sides on her side property, but the "bottom" of the "u" is the common backyard. We always assumed that the fence was ours, because the posts and braces are on our side. But the two adjoining sides are similar panels. YIKES!
