What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Mississippi

We have neighbors that live directly behind us. Their two sons come to our house to play a lot--this has been bothersome at times since we end up watching their sons, ages 10 and 5. Their parents never go outside to play with them or supervise them. The kids are free to roam and they always roam to our house.

This ended today. When we came home from church, they had used spray paint to draw large X's on the front of the trees in our backyard. They also used spray paint to write "no trespassing" on one of the trees and on a piece of our playground equipment that was in front of a tree. Note, the trees are close to the property line, but they are part of our yard.

When we told their partents, they didn't think it was a big deal. They came over and tried to clean the paint off of everything, but most of it didn't come off. We took pictures--before and after.

We told the kids not to come over anymore. We plan to call a surveyor this week to verify our property line. We are also planning to put up a privacy fence.

Is there anything else we should do? Their kids vandalized our backyard. Should we report it?

Once you verify the property line, place the privacy fence up, and put up a "no trespassing" sign, that should end the kids coming into the back yard on their own.
