neighbors tree limb falls in my yard.

the other day my neighbors eucalyptus tree decided to drop a huge limb into my yard. it was a nice cool bay area evening. when it fell it crushed our shared fence and extends at least 20" into my yard almost coming into contact with my house. theres a few feet still laying in his yard as well through the fence.

whos liable for clean-up of the limb?

Unless you can prove that the limb was damaged in some way -- and the neighbor knew about it -- you are each responsible for cleaning up the parts that are in your own yards, and you are jointly responsible for repairing the fence. See Cal. Civ. Code 841.
