What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Ohio A local water company recently ran a water line across my father's property without a right of way agreement. Although they have agreed to move the line is there any remedy for damages?

sure. He can make a demand for payment of the damages and consider suing if the refuse to pay it. Of course you won't know what the damages are until the move the line and do whatever they are going to do to return the land to it's previous condition.
