What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA
We have a neighbor that has a row of Japanese privet trees right next to the property line that were originally supposed to be a hedge but have never been pruned and now are about 40 feet tall and overhang our property by about 15-20 feet and drop leaves and branches constantly causing me a lot of extra work. The row is close to 100 feet long. Do I have any right to have the neighbor prune those trees? Thanks in advance for any help.

justalayman is right.

Just make sure no permit is needed. Some cities require that. Also some require a certified arborist to do the pruning.

And I would discuss it with the neighbour before.
