Police want me to move vehicles on my driveway

Earlier today a police officer notified my father that he must remove two vehicles from my driveway that aren't functioning and gave us 5 days to remove them. Is it legal for them to make me remove something from my property?

You need to tell us what state to be sure, but in many places it's illegal to leave unregistered or other derelict vehicles in view from the street.

Are the vehicle on blocks or jacks? Are they in a state of obvious disrepair? Are they in pieces?

This may well be a local ordinance that forbids such vehicles to be in a publicly accessible place.

What city is this? Chances are there is an ordinance against their condition or their expiration.

Do they appear to be junkers, garbage, or in pieces? Or, are they operable, but unregistered?
