Is there a law that states that if a fence was placed incorrectly adn it has been 10 years that the fence has to stay in that location? Neighbor and us are having an arguement about where the property line is. We have measured and found that she is using between 2 and 6 foot of our property from front to back on the side of our yard. We own the land that goes beside her house and behind her. We offered to have the land surveyed and us paying half the cost on that side, to have the deeds stating the true lines of the fences. That would save us moving fences or making weird jags in the fence to get it set on the correct location in the front of our yards. 5 Years ago they put in new roads and we are paying taxes on the land she is claiming is hers. The new tax is added on yearly to our property tax with the county. She stated that the fence was in the correct location and that from what she heard that the fence had been there for 10 years so we could not move it to the correct location. Is this so? Are we screwed out of that property and unable to move the fnece? We are willing to pay the cost of putting up a new fence and placing it in our property lines but she states that we cant. She is claiming that she has to put up a privacy fence because our dogs bark at her so she is putting that up just inside the fence she is claiming is on the property line. She is also claiming that one of our dogs is mean and that he acts like he is going to come through the fence and eat her and her pets. We know he would not do this except maybe her cats. We have trained both of our dogs to keep cats our of our yard because we also have rabbits that roam around it. Is there a way we can stop her before the privacy fence goes up so that we can have the land surveyed? I would like to be nice about this but it irritates me that she is being such a pain in the BLEEP. She wants to purchase some of the land we bought behind her and we think that is part of the reason she is being unreasonable. Any help?
Thanks
