What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Wa
We share a well with our neighbors, have been since we bought the place 5 years ago. There are no legal documents providing this, just a verbal agreement between us. The neighbors have recently moved and new ones are in. We want to get them off our well, they are irresponsible, and have no regard for property, and we are afraid they are going to abuse this right, and burn up our well, leaving us without water. Can we legally turn off the water? If not what do we have to do to get them off of our well?

simce you have no documents to provide direction for sharing the well, what you can and cannot do is not clear.

first, turning off the water is not going to be a good idea.

Do you have any idea how the two properties ended up sharing a well?

is well the only possible source of water for these properties?

and, most importantly, what was in the verbal agreement.
