Is it legal?

A new business idea is circulating amongst myself and some friends advertising the idea of selling an e-book telling the consumer how to obtain free movies, games, entertainment, etc. The book will tell the consumer how to obtain these things through torrents and even some guides on how to burn them to disk. At the bottom of the e-book it will say something like, "I cannot be held responsible for any illegal use of the information in this e-book.". Is this legal? If not is there a way I can make this legal?

Thanks in Advance!

How would you be able to attest to the accuracy of the information, without having first committed these illegal acts yourself?

Lets say I have legally used the information to back-up my software and noticed that there are many opportunities to download other things "assuming you have permission of course "

Wouldn't this be legal, the exchange of information?

Sorry, let me get this straight.

You want to make a business model of selling stuff to people who can;t be bothered to buy stuff (games/movies) and instead download it for free.

If your customers don't even want to pay for a movie; what makes you think they will pay for your book?

It would be the height of irony if your book ended up on piratebay

There are other factors involved that make the business model work that I don't want to disclose . All I need to know is if it is legal to do this, or if not how it could be made legal.

Usually, it is illegal to provide a guide in how to steal from others.

There is a first amendment piece here, but you could still be sued into the ground by those stolen from.

The DMCA pretty much makes giving information on circumventing copyrights illegal.

OldandTired: There are a number of ways. You could set up your own torrent with material that you own or not subject to copyright and test your information, or you can do what is far too common: write the book without any first hand accurate knowledge. For the classic example see the Anarchist Cookbook.
