online fraud: just some general questions.

What is the name of your state? Colorado

I sent money online through Paypal to a seller of a virtural item and was scammed. Jumped through all the paypal claims loops and the seller was a smooth talker so no result. I do have some good evidence that he admited to lying to paypal about the claim and that he scammed me (he admited it and thinks its a game). After much talking to ebay/paypal (same company), they advised me to get a lawyer to subpeona paypal for the sellers contact information(then I can sue). My first question is what type/kind of lawyer would best suit this need(specifically)? My second question is should I contact/report this crime to my local Police/Law Enforcement Department before or after I take on the services of a lawyer. (I think I need to contact local police correct?)Thanks in advance.

World of Warcraft account? If so, the answers in this thread apply to you.

No

No its NOT a World of Warcraft account. I had read that post previous to posting mine. Mine differs as I have evidence, did not get any item/product/service at all, not even for a limited time. There is no gray area in mine. I did not buy the item off ebay and did not violate and rules or laws. I simply stated it was a virtural item. I just want to know what kind of lawyer to contact to handle this case. Thanks

How much did you pay for this "item". Also, have you reviewed the terms of the service where the "item" actually "resides?"
Without more details, we can't help. Pick up the phone book and start making calls...
