Plane ticket, full price or not ??Hi everybody I'm from europe and my family and I are planning a trip in the US for this summer. We found a flight with Continental Airlines that could match our desires but I have an interrogation about something. The price covers the round-trip, the flight from europe to the US is on the 17th of July and the way back is on the 13th of August, and I'm turning 18 on the 20th of July. On this airline company, the children price is applicable up to 18 years old So, should I pay the full price or not? Is there any law which could solve such a tricky problem? ![]() I would prefer not to have to take two seperate tickets, because it's usually more expensive that a round-trip ticket, and doing so would probably cancel the amout of the saving ![]() Sorry if my poor english does not reflect perfectly my problem and thanks to anybody who will bring me an answer. | Continental Airlines is an American company, so the US law applies to it, doesn't she? And why wouldn't my question be a "legal" one ? Don't you have laws that govern the modalities of reservations for transports users? I don't understand what the problem is |

| You are purchasing the tickets (and reside) outside of the US. The laws in YOUR country would apply.

| Have you called the airline and asked? You can do it anonymously, as a general question. |

Contract of Carriageaccording to FAA FAR Part 141 (US Commercial Carriers) Continental's Contract of Carriage, which is avaliable, per request, or even on their website i believe, states that the age used to determine the fare rules is based on the age on the original date the travel commences from the origin on a "open jaw" ticket, or Round trip ie. Point A to Point B to Point A. Continental Is not obligated to offer a modified pricing engine for that ticket but maybe willing to make an exception based on your individual circumstances, would be best to contact them directly. Cheers, ![]() |
