I realize this probably isn't the site to be asking this, and if you know of one, please let me know.
I'm looking for a reputable website to purchase cartons of cigarettes at a discounted price.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, you're right.

This isn't the correct site to answer your question.

Hopefully this isn't a lame attempt at seed spam.

You can try www.notthisforumyouidiot.com, but I'm pretty sure you can find them cheaper elsewhere....

Sure sounds like an opening for an ad for cigarettes to me.

You might try googling something other than "free legal advice" to locate a website that meets your needs, dannymichel.

I think smoking cigarettes decreases the blood supply to the brain, doesn't it? Must research this. . . . .

Is it even legal to buy discounted cig cartons? I seem to remember a poster, long ago n far away in a distant galaxy, speaking about how he was in trouble for purchasing discounted cartons online. Something about a tax issue...

It could depend on the state? I don't know.

If I ever decide to waste some time researching the effects of smoking on the brain, I will look that up, too. :)

Guys, i'm really sorry. I'm not affiliated with spammers. I googled consumer forums and found you guys.
Fair enough. :)

If the internet retailer that sells you your cigarettes does not include taxes in the purchase price, you will need to pay the taxes yourself - so be aware that a "good price" may not be all that good when you add these taxes onto the price - and you must also add into the cost the necessary license fees.

Also, as you are probably aware, smoking is bad for your health. For example, it can decrease the blood flow to your brain, making you think a legal forum is a good resource for locating online sales of cigarettes. ;)

You should probably go to the following site to see how not quitting can affect your health: http://www.cdc.gov/fact_sheet/health_effects/effects_cig_smoking.

Good luck and good health to you, dannymichel. Thanks for not being a spammer.

Buy direct from the manufacturer. You cannot get more reputable than that.;)
Reputable, perhaps. But not much of a discounted price, if you add in the necessary licenses, permits and taxes.*

Edit to add:
*See NYS Public Health Law, Section 1399-LL, which restricts online sales of cigarettes to those who are licensed tax agents or wholesale dealers.

*See the 2011 suit filed by NYS against 6 online-cigarette-sale website operators. New York is one of 6 states that prohibit online cigarette sales to consumers.

*See both NYS and NYC excise taxes imposed on the sale of packages of cigarettes. http://www.tax.ny.gov/bus/cig/cigidx.htm

*brief research, may not be the most up-to-date information available

Don't forget all those consumers who got dinged with taxes, penalties, and interest in the thousands of dollars after buying online from an allegedly "reputable" e-tailer who "forgot" to collect the applicable sales tax on the transactions.

See, its not the cigarettes that are expensive. It's the mandatory state tax on the tobacco products. Save them now by not paying in a bootleg deal, pay later when the state catches you dipping into their pockets. The endgame is the same, except that the penalties and interest make it not so much a bargain in the long run.

sandyclaus, when I was browsing for data, I ran across good information you posted on this very same topic in 2012. I was actually going to provide a link to it but wasn't sure I should direct visitors to World Law Direct. :)

LOL. I can see the dilemma there. ;);)

Here's some info I can provide:

New York state has the highest cigarette taxes in the US at $4.35 PER PACK (http://www.taxadmin.org/fta/rate/cigarette.pdf). I can certainly see why someone would try to skirt the tax collector and buy online.

And then there's this news story that tells about how 3,400 New Yorkers got hit with a huge tax debt of up to $10,000 apiece from buying their cigarettes online from out-of-state retailers that didn't collect the appropriate taxes: http://www.jewishworldreview.com/0305/cigs_tax.asp

Here's the law when it comes to collecting taxes on cigarette purchases:http://www.tax.ny.gov/bus/cig/cigidx.htm

So, like I said. Pay now, or pay later. The only difference is that paying later means paying MORE than what you'd have to pay now.

As they say, there is no such thing as a free lunch.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I think dannymichel may regret asking for directions to an online cigarette seller from a legal advice site :) - although, if he reads through the links that have been provided, it might save him some money (and his heart, lungs, and brain).
