car towed from driveway, then stolen?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? washington snohomish county.

I know i was running the risk having to leave my car partially blocking a fenced barn, but i tried to get it jumped and started and it didn't work. I was going to probably end up towing it the next morning anyway. I put a sign in the window saying i'd be back in morning and left about 5 they towed it 3hour later. the tow truck driver said that he didn't have to tell ANY body when he took my car, but when i talked to the sherrif the next morning he said that if it had been towed "we would know about it."

It ended up getting ugly from the tow truck people and when i went to get the car they actually assualted my partner and his father. (different issue though, i didn't get hit) when the cops showed they actually took the side of the tow truck company and tole me "well there are a lot of cops in this jurisdiction and we don't all talk to each other." i don't know what he acutally ment but that but i wanted to know why the impound never showed up in the computers, where they just trying to get extra storage fees?
