    cremation laws in tx

a friend of 25 years died suddenly in jan 09. The m.e claimed her body for an autopsy and tox screen. The only family she had left was a brother that she hasn't talked to in 12 yrs. While holding her body looking for family i had requested to take care of her body to give her a proper burial if they couldnt find her brother. I was told i could be a bonafied friend and claim her after so many days. i wanted her to have a proper burial, didnt have alot of money so i told the m.e. i was going to cremate her. they said that was the only way i could claim her. they would cremate and i pick up. 90 days is what i was told. i was told alot of b.s. and given the run around by about 6 different people at the medical examiner in dallas. long story short all i was told was a lie and the m.e. ended up cremating and burying her cremains in a indigent grave with about a thousand others. i need to know if they are allowed to do that and how they can do that if a person is willing to claim her and they exhausted the family search after 20 days. everyone i talked to told me something different about the process that was going on. help

The forum you chose to post your question includes the phrase "Not Legal Questions". Try again.
The only thing worse than getting into an argument about politics is getting into an argument because you refuse to argue politics.
