There's a clever way to insert links into posts. I tripped across it when I found it in a spam post i reported. I'm not going to explain how it works here, but Aunt Mary knows how to get a hold of me if she wants an explanation.
I'm not a lawyer, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

now I know, and I'm telling.

parenthesize your link with [img][/img]

and uncheck the url parentheses.

looks just like this (quote me if you need to see so yourself.)

Take my word for it, there was a really, really good reason why direct links were turned off. I have never seen such disgusting photos in my life, as some that were posted here before that was done. And it wasn't a link to a photo that you had to click on; it was the photos themselves, embedded (if that's the correct lingo) directly so that all you had to do to see these lovely images was to open the thread. Definitely not safe for work, or for juveniles, or for most people with a modicum of taste.
Two things I am tired of typing: 1.) A wrongful termination does not mean that you were fired for something you didn't do; it means that you were fired for a reason prohibited by law. 2.) The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding contract or CBA expressly says otherwise. If it does, the terms of the contract apply.

Well, I assumed that was the reason you don't have images, but we use external links all of the time, copying and pasting, and tinyurl ing is so time consuming. and that URL parenthesis is really annoying.

If you prefer, I will delete my post saying how, but now that I know, I'm going to use it when providing links, if thats ok. I can only guess it will only take a few posts for it to be widespread knowledge.

It's not my call on this board. I'm not telling you to do or not do anything - that's Aunt Mary's job. I'm telling you why the direct links were turned off.

But if it WERE my call, I'd prohibit any images and limit links. That's from my experience not just here, but on boards where I do have a say. On one such board, until a software upgrade recently that limited (but did not entirely delete) spam posts, I was deleting upwards of 300 spam posts a sitting. That's a heck of a lot of links that we don't necessarily need. One board I post on limits links by poster; when you've posted x number of approved posts, you can post links. That's what I'd do, if it were my call. Which it is not.

Don't know why this has to be a secret. Merely uncheck the "retrieve titles from external links". Then all that has to be done is to cut and paste the URL.

Now that I know how to make the link "hot"(thanks).... what is the secret to renaming it? Someone... Justalayman????.... had a hot link in a post and edited the display name to a real word. So instead of seeing the www.whatever you would see the rename. It's the same thing you do in Outlook.

BUT... what is the secret here? My PM is open if you don't want to post it here.

I must have a colebeer and think on this some more....
