    Small claims lawsuit

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Nevada.

I'm going to explain what's going on and hopefully someone can let me know if there is anything to it.

At the very end of December 2008 (shortly after xmas), my friends mother in law contacted me about her old TV. She told me she bought a new one and wanted to know if I would like to purchase her old one for $100. I told her I would like it, but I can't pay the $100 for it because I don't have it. She then said "Well then don't worry about it, just come pick it up". I said ok, and picked it up and brought it to my house and took possession. Other when she initially said she wanted $100 bucks for it and I turned it down, there was never any mention of paying for it, I accepted it as a gift.

Almost one year to the day, she started calling me (after my friendship with her daughter and son in law went bad), and starting asking me when I was going to pay her the $100 bucks because she got laid off and her husband needed dental surgery so she needed the money. I told her if I could, I would help her out but I don't have the money and there was never any agreement of money to be paid at a later date. She said ok, and then a series of calls we're made to me as time went on about giving her the money, I told her I wont pay for the TV and I eventually starting ignoring her calls.

Just today (14 months after giving me the TV), she told me she is filing a lawsuit in small claims against me for the $100. I told her she has no case and I will see her in court.

My question is does she have anything against me and is there some kind of statue of limitations on something like this.

    1) She didn't ask for money until a year later and after my friendship with her daughter and son in law went bad.

    2) I never agreed to pay her.

    3) I have a witness who is willing to testify that she said to my witness: "I am giving my TV and DVD player to Kevin, if he doesn't want it I will give it to you".

Please let me know as I have never been involved in a lawsuit and know very little about it. She is claiming she has a verbal contract and she will probably have her husband testify to that, but I never agreed. Thank you. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Lawsuits are not about justice. They are about MONEY. If you don't want money, then you shouldn't be thinking about suing. And people post here because they are thinking about suing. Because they want money, no matter how much they don't want to admit that to themselves.
