What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Maine

Can someone be tried or go to jail if what they did was 6 years ago? It was a physical abuse situation to a 14 yr old boy. This man has been in counseling for 2 years and is not that same person. This man has appologized and has spoken to the boy recently about the situation. The boy wanted to know why it happened, this man had lost his mother a month before and was physically abused by his father as a child. This man was angry and wasn't aware then. Through counseling he has let go of all the anger he once had and is not the same person he was 6 years ago.

No warrent was ever issued. the reason i'm asking is the boy just told his mother about what happened back then and she is threatening to take this to court and ruin the mans life.

I tell you what.

We will help you if you go ahead and admit you are "the man".
