What is the name of your state? Virginia

On Sunday early morning I was physically assualted in Texas. I was visiting with my Step Sister with a trip to Mexico. Early Sunday morning she turned on me and beat me very badly. The police showed up on the side of the road and arrested both of us for disorderly conduct. At that point I wanted to press charges against my step sister. I was told that I could not press charges until the morning and I would have to stay in Jail for the night. I am now back in Virginia two days later and I would like to know if there is any way I can still press criminal charges from Virginia and how do I do that?

I have documented the severe beating with pictures and a doctors visit.
