Auto Ownership / theft??

What is the name of your state? GA
Let's say I own a car and let a good friend borrow it for a while. While he is borrowing it he writes me a check to cover my car payment. he's insured to drive the car. He stops paying me and I'm ready to have the car back. If he stops by my place and I ask for the keys, can I report the car as stolen if he refuses to return the keys and leaves?

What are my other options?
