Question: Person A wrote a check for a lease payment for Person B. Person B never deposited the money as promised. Person A's check was returned for insufficient funds. The leasor contacted Person A to let her know -- and said if Person A could get Person B to return the leased equipment he would return the insufficient check. Person A has not legal connection to the lease, and no longer associates with Person B. Person B refused to return the equipment or even talk with Person A. The leasor said he has no other recourse except to file charges on Person A for the funds and she will be arrested and the bail will be set at $1500 -- which when paid will be given to him. Is this true? Is Person A responsible for this payment. Person A offered to pay the leasor any cost he incurred due to the return of the check. Please help.
