What is the name of your state? NC

Hello all,

My wife was convicted about 7 years ago (she was 16 at the time) of breaking & entering. She was wondering how is it that you can be charged & convicted of breaking & entering your own place of residence?

Was she not in court at her trial when the evidence was presented against her? It would appear she entered the house at a time she was not allowed access and then took items that did not belong to her. And there was enough evidence to convict her. Sounds rather simple to me.
