A friend of mine was approached by an investigator earlier this week about buying a stolen computer from someone. He bought the computer approximately 1.5 years ago, and is wondering if they can still prosecute him. He bought the computer for $350.00, when the value of the computer is estimated at $1500.00. He is also wondering what kind of penalty he can expect from this. He has no prior criminal record, not even and traffic violations, and he is hoping he can get off lightly. The investigator said that he was just a small player in a much larger scheme for stealing up to $100,000 worth of computers and computer components. The investigator also said that he was going to try and get the guy off lightly if he could help the investigator with his investigation... What do you think???
