My response:

Sure.

The box and all of the electronics within the box are legal to sell and own. Even if all of that "stuff", when put together, allows signals to be intercepted, it's all still legal to own. Remember, at this point, it's just a bunch of transistors, diodes, wire, circuit boards, etc., none of which, on their own, are illegal to own.

However, the trouble comes in when you actually plug it in and "use" that "stuff" to intercept signals (the product) that you're not paying to get.

Cable companies are well-aware of these "black boxes" and have their methods of finding out who's using them. When they find you, then it's "curtains" for you.

Stealing pay t.v. signals is like going into a store and shoplifting.
