What is the name of your state? California

Can someone please explain what the different degrees (Class?) of Felony theft is and how they are determined? (ie: Felony theft in the 3rd degree).

If the 'theft' is of a residence (or an attached garage) it can be filed as a first degree burglary (and can be filed as a strike).

Commercial burglary is also referred to as 2nd degree commercial burg.

In CA, theft over $400 can be filed as a felony...
Theft has many categories/types (auto theft, theft of personal property, theft of services, embezzlement, etc (no degree on them - over 400 can be felony, under is 'Petty Theft')).
