What is the name of your state? A 73 year old man molested a child in my small community.Our law in Virginia states that he serve a minimum of one year in jail,if convicted.He was convicted but only was served a 40 day sentence,with 10 years dropped.I don't understand this.This man was big in the community.My question is can this one year be inforced?Also can anyone bring a civil suit against him?He does this,and keeps getting away with it.Can anything be done to put him where he needs to be or at the very least,make him pay monetarily?What is the name of your state? It MIGHT be possible for the parents or legal guardian of the victim to pursue a civil claim for damages.

He does this,and keeps getting away with it.

If you have PROOF of his 'getting away with it' repeatedly.... contact the police.
