Hi all – hypothetical question that we were kicking around the lunchroom at work today.

Okay – I am pretty sure that if an IT person at a company finds child pornography on a company computer they are required to report it to the authorities. Is that correct?

In the case of a service department as a computer repair place, if they come across it while servicing a machine, I think they are required to report it also...correct?

Now – say a person is using a friend or relative’s computer and they find child pornography on it, are they required to report it?

If someone IS required to report it, and doesn’t – can they get in trouble the same way the person who has downloaded it can and would it be the same in each of scenarios?

Thanks,
DG
