Class C Felony in Hawaii info Needed ASAP!

Hawaii, we cannot afford a lawyer but in need of answers. my husband and I are from california in vacation right now in Honolulu. He has been charged with a class c felony shoplifting and has a court date this Monday, April 4. I am wondering what plea he should plead..guilty, not guilty. Please help. We cannot afford a lawyer. He has a drug felony 10 years ago. What do you think will happen to him? Any other info I should relay to him to get him out of potentially going to jail? Please help!
