The State of New York stipulates that a felony plea bargain can't be offered/accepted in local criminal court. I recently filed an ror petition in my son's behalf, and his public defender contacted us stating he is having the petition removed, since my son accepted a plea agreement at the initial arraignment. I asked my son about this, and he knew nothing, and is as ignorant of law practice as I am. Also, he wants another attorney, but the court is not honoring his request. Can someone lead me in the right direction?
