Just returned from a cruise on the Carnival Fantasy. Still sick about the experience we had on the ship. My 17 year old daughter and her 17 year old friend were sharing a cabin on a different level than myself. Travelling with a group of 8, 4 cabins in all. On New Year's Eve the champagne was flowing, my daughter became very intoxicated and ater falling on the dance floor in the dance club, she was escorted with her friend back to there cabin by two of the adults in our group. After a few minutes the friend returned to the deck some of the adults were on. Two of the adults got suspicious because in the dance club one of social hosts had been dancing with my daughter and even commented to my sister that my daughter was intoxicated and should be taken to her cabin. He said he would not be allowed to escort her as the staff was allowed no where near the guest cabins. My sister and another adult immediately went down to her cabin and went in to find the 23 year old social host laying in bed with my nude 17 year old daughter. Needless to say, they kicked the young man out of the cabin, kept his name tag and came to talk to me about what happened. I filed a report with the ship security about the incident and was completely sick about the incident and still am. My daughter disappointed me but I feel that the 23 year old crew member should have known much better. Carnival said he was terminated. I know if I could have been with her 24/7 on the ship, this would never have happened but of course that was impossible. Is there anything I can do more about this situation or should I just let it go? Our first cruise out over $2000 just for my two cabins alone - This will undoubtedly be remembered as the worst trip ever taken.

Your daugher and her friend should have been in your cabin, or right next to yours not by themselves somewhere else on the ship.
What were you thinking?
Still you should hire an attorney and sue.

Thanks for your response. Yes, i agree her cabin should have been next to mine. She was on the same floor as my sister, maybe 10 cabins apart. Of course, after the incident, I spent the remainder of the cruise bunking in the cabin with the two teenagers. The lock on their cabin was changed and I was the sole holder of the key. Everytime they need entrance, they needed me to enter the cabin. The more I think about this, the more upset I become with myself as well as with the trusty employees of Carnival cruise lines. At 17, my daughter should never have been served alcohol and if she was falling down intoxicated, one would expect a trusted staff member would not attempt to go down to her cabin, knowing full well how intoxicated she was. In the 15 minutes she was without an adult present, the 23 year old cruise ship staff member took advantage by entering her cabin. You can't leave your kids at home and you can't take them on vacation unless they are chained directly to you.

The girls were minors that should not have been in a cabin by themselves with no adult period.
You have a bunch of claims against the ship starting from the serving of drinks to a minor to possible sexual.....

If you talk to the right legal counselors, they can advise you.
There have been similar cases settled out of court and I believe some remain active today.
