Employees at a very large restaurant chain have been telling other employees, patrons, friends and strangers not to associate with me because I am dangerous and a 'Stalker'. This allegation comes from a jealous boyfriend who is friendly with the staff. They don't even know me, but when I went to get an order to go last week, and paid with my Visa card, the word "Stalker" was printed on my check. This has gone on for 16 months now and has caused several new acquaintances to shun me after hearing the allegation of Stalking.
Do I have grounds for a lawsuit? If so, where can I research precedents in similar circumstances? Thanks.
