does your lawyer have to tell the judge about other pending charges in a different town

depends. if the lawyer is asked by the judge, the lawyer must answer truthfully. The lawyer cannot misrepresent your status to the court even if not directly asked by the court.

Dont worry, the prosecutor will run your rap sheet and find out about the other charges.

is it the defence lawyers respoblity to disclose other charges being brought against his client to the judge even if the judge does not ask about it and the proscuter is aware of the other charges

once you are convicted of a crime the state cant re-charge you on the same offense or decide to up the charges.

Now, how your conviction will affect your other charges, is a different story.

If your attorney does not tell the judge, the prosecutor probably will. And in virtually every court room in America, the judge has a computer in front of them and it will show your complete arrest and conviction record.
