i got a dwi in arkansas and the attorney i hired failled to notify me of court date.now i havea fta plus dwi charge.what are my options?

1. Turn yourself in to the court and explain what the attorney did. Ask for a new court date & time to find a new attorney if you want one.

2. Report the attorney to the state bar. Failing ot notify a client of a court date is malpractice per se.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR REPLYING.I WANT TO BE SURE TO BE SPECIFIC AND CLEAR ON THIS,SO I WILL GIVE A MORE INFO.1.WHEN I APPEARED INITIALLY,I WAS PREPARED TO PLEAD NOT.GUILTY.THE JUDGE ASKED MR IF I HAD AN ATTORNEY.I SAID NO THAT I COULDN'T AFFORD ONE.HE SAID GO GET ONE AND BE BACK IN 1 WEEK.2.I FINALY FOUND ONE THAT WOULD TAKE MY TRUCK TITLE UNTIL MY WORKMANS COMP,CAME IN.BUT HE SAID HE COULD NOT MAKE COURT NEXT WEEK BECAUSE OF FEDERAL COURT IN LITTLE ROCK BUT WOULD GET IT CONTINUED AND GET BACK WITH ME TO DISCUSS DETAILS OF THE DWI CHARGE.I INFORMED HIM THAT I WAS NOT GOING TO PLEAD GUILTY TO SOMETHING I DID NOT DO AND WANTED TO FIGHT ALL THE WAY TO SUPREME COURT IF I HAD TO.HE SAID OK.I GOT THE DWI ON 4-2-99AND HE CALLED MY MOTHERS AT 11;00PM ON 6=8=99 AND TOLD HER I HAD TO BE IN COURT 6-9-99 AT 9;30AM.I WAS OUT OF TOWN AND KNEW NOTHING ABOUT UNTIL 6-10-99.
