In the past 3 days, I've been receiving terribly harassing email's from my ex husband, saying
some terribly ridiculous things about me! My new husband has written to him, and nicely asked
him to stop....and if he does not, all email's will be taken to OUR lawyer!

Is there really anything that we can do about it??

Also....the email that he send to me was FROM his corporate email address....seems to me that
the LARGE company that he works for might be VERY disappointed knowing that their email
server, was being used for harassment.

Thanks...

I am a law school graduate. What I offer is mere information, not to be construed as forming an attorney client relationship.

Internet type crimes happen at a steadfastly growing rate everyday. They range from kiddie porn to email crimes. Cyber crim laws are starting to become implemented and are also starting to affect bail/bond hearings, as well.

This type of harassment may be (if all the elements for the crime are present) considered "cyber stalking". Cyber stalking is a relatively new prosecution item District Attorneys (at least in Southern Cali) are implementing as a new charge and are becoming quite effective in getting guilty verdicts.

As far as the business use of the server -- oh yeah, if his employers find out (surprised they haven't been keeping track or watching so far), that can cross a lot of boundaries and quite possibly (if argued well by an attorney) could get them to be liable in part.

You need to keep ALL emails he sent you with your reply sent by your husband. Don't reply anymore. Take it immediately to your lawyer and see what he/she can do with it.

Hope this helps.

Forward copies of all email to his company together with a complaint demanding that they rein in their employee. They will not be amused.
