What is the name of your state?

I am a Dutch citizen living in The Netherlands, and have the following question:

Can a U.S. citizen be arrested in the USA, for example in the state of Alabama, and be extradited to the Netherlands for having commited a crime there ?

Cannot find any documented case of such extradictions, however dozens of cases of Dutch citizens being extradited to the USA.

I'll appreciate any reply to above mentioned question.
