My friend is in jail now in Texas following pleading guilty to Felon in Possession of Firearm. His sentencing recommendation came today and is rather steep - about 60+ months. He previously served 8 yrs for another offense. He has a number of issues his court appointed attorney won't address: the search of his car, improperly signed indictment, time frames not adhered to regarding sentencing recommendations, State dropping the charges and Feds picking it up. At this point we are grasping for loopholes and leniency in punishment. Does it sound like he needs a Civil Rights attorney or another more aggressive attorney. And what would be the chances of this ever being dropped on technicalities?
