Recently a friend was involved in a hit and run. He was in a parking garage and hit another vehicle leaving a scuff mark on the bumper which he described as barely noticeable. He decided he wanted to wait for the individual to come back to his or her car and discuss it with him or her. First, though, he left and dropped a friend off a few blocks away. By the time he came back the vehicle was gone. Obviously he should have never left in the first place, but now he is wondering what he should do and if he can still try to contact the individual or police to avoid criminal charges. If there is video at the garage, it will show that he indeed returned to the scene. What should he do in this case?
