What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas
My girlfriend has recently obtained evidence (a pawn shop recipt) that her mom has been using her name, we suspect that she may also have a drivers license in her name becase about a year ago she was told that she had unpaid trafic tickets in her name and she dosent even have a drivers license or drive. Her mom had commented many times on how easy it is to switch their names (they have the same first name and different last names) we intend to go to the pawn shop to ask them about the recipt, I want to know what we can do beyond that to fix this becase we dont know what else she may have done because she also has a copy of her SS#

Then your friend can file a police report for identity theft.
I want to make sure that this point is made strongly.

If there is credit cards or other credit obligations made in your girlfriend's name, only a police report will absolve her of responsibility.
