What is the name of your state? CA

Greetings,

So, my boyfriend and I have been dating for a couple of years, and some months back he confided that, before we met, he sent a picture of his genetalia to a woman he met through the "adultfriendfinder" website. it's basically a swinger's site, where people hookup for casual sex. When I finished ridiculing him (he was very, very embarrassed), I let it go...it happened before we met, he was going through a tough time, had low self-image, yadda-yadda. Besides we were both hiv/std tested before we started dating.

In any case, he gets nervous that what he did was illegal, and I have to hear about it over and over again! He probably has a worrying disorder...if it's not this, than it's something else lately.

So, we're trying to get clarification on the law. I've told him that I don't think he has anything to worry about...

1. It's not illegal for consenting adults to send sex pictures (non-obscene, obviously not child-related).

2. Members at the site (where he met her) post pictures; there's a warning upon entry to the site, and you must create an account with a credit card to post pictures. It's obvious why people subscribe.

3. Even if it was a minor pretending to be an adult (who maybe even stole a parent's credit card to register), it would have to be proven that he KNOWINGLY sent a picture to a minor.

Am I right in these assumptions? Help me shut my boyfriend up! :)

Thanks

sherri

no takers?

Sorry to bug people, but does anyone have anything they might be able to add?

Again, sorry to bug. And thanks for taking the time to help out around here!

Its not likely to be illegal. The devil would be in the details, however. If the receiving party was a minor, then he could still be charged ... that isn't to say he'd be convicted of anything, just that he could be charged.

If he hasn't heard anything about it by now I doubt he will.

Tell him to chill.

Carl, thanks so much. Looking around this forum, without you it gets pretty ugly sometimes around here. And people are afraid of cops? :)

Thanks.

Generally, it is only the guilty that are afraid of cops. :D

But, sometimes, we can be our own worst enemies ... one televised screw up and we're all tainted for years.

Oh ... and tell him to stay off those "adult" sites ... you really have NO idea who trolls them, and, there is an enormous amount of fraud associated with them - I hope he keeps a good track of his credit information.
