My sister in law recently got angry at me over a Facebook post and posted online that she was going to kill me...the next morning she drives to my house, and beats on my door continuing to scream and yelling obscenities and that she was going to kill me, over a facebook post that never mentioned her name. My neighbors called the police because of how bad she was telling and acting in front of children and families and shouting she was going to kill me. The showed up after she had left. They stated the neighbors had called bc of her screaming, and her speeding down the road around 50 in a residential. They said the next time she is spotted in the area she would be arrested on disorderly conduct... now if I also fIle a complaint because of her acting that way and threatening to kill me and showing up on my property, is that domestic violence, assault, or menacing...and what can I do to protect myself? Is there a stature of limitation time wise to file this report? She was slandering our family by making false accusations online on a public forum.

I understand that your state is Ohio. On your edit, the name of your state was apparently deleted.

You can file a complaint with the police against your sister-in-law over the threats of violence. What she will be charged with (if anything) will be determined by the police. Here are links to Ohio's laws on domestic violence, menacing and defamation. There was apparently no assault.

ORC 2903.21 Aggravated menacing: http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/2903.21
ORC 2903.211 Menacing by stalking: http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/2903.211
ORC 2919.25 Domestic violence: http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/2919.25
Ohio Defamation law: http://www.dmlp.org/legal-guide/ohio-defamation-law

It appears your Facebook post was the catalyst. Before filing a police report, you might want to have an attorney in your area review what you posted online to see if your sister-in-law's rage was somewhat justified. You do not have to identify a person by name for that person to be identifiable to others. Context as well as content matter.
