I received a very bogus MIP charge in May of 1996. I hired an attorney to represent me, who showed up and made the initial pleas. Time passed, then more time, then more time. Apparently the docket in Dallas county is over 3 years behind in handling these kinds of cases. I have heard no word from my attorney in over 3 years, and I have since moved out of Texas altogether. No fines have been paid. What is my best approach? Is there a statute of limitations on this charge? I handled it through my attorney, so there shouldn't be any warrants outstanding. I haven't even been pulled over since it happened, so there is no way to tell. I have, however, renewed a license in Texas since it happened. Is it possible the docket is backed up this far? What course of action should I take to find out the status of the case after all this time?
