    Motorcycle helmet cam video of police incident

    What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? michigan

    A couple weeks ago riding my motorbike around on my property there was an incident between me, people parked on the road and two police. My helmet camera was recording. In the first few minutes I'm talking to one of the people stopped on the road. Then an off duty police woman from a nearby town pulls over and joins the conversation. A few minutes later a sheriff deputy comes. Near the end of the video the deputy is shouting at me, he gets inches from my face, and grabs my helmet, which I'm wearing.

    Did the law enforcement officers recite the laws correctly? Were the people on the family outing trespassing? Is there good cause to make a complaint about the two officers?

    Here is the video

    I think you are just a nosey Ned, who was sticking his nose in other people's private business without cause or reason. If you felt that these people were breaking the law by parking where they did, you should have called the Sheriff yourself.

    You can never make the same mistake twice, because the second time you make it, it's not a mistake, it's a CHOICE.

    From one of your other links:
    Something doesn't seem right about that video. Odd that someone that's been convicted of harrassing fishermen would tape himself harrassing fishermen then post if on youtube. Just seems odd to me.
    Some say that people who go looking for trouble, will often find it.

    In Michigan it's legal to record conversations so long as one party is aware it's being recorded. Police in many places now carry cameras to use in their daily work. The Sheriff deputy probably had a camera looking out the front of the patrol car. If he can do it on my property then I can do it on my property.

    I've searched for writing about how the public is limited in their use of road rights of way. Road easements give only the right to pass through private property and to stop only for issues directly related to "highway travel purposes" or "road purposes" or business with the adjoining property owner. Everything else depends on the owner's permission or tolerance. What I haven't found is where law enforcement officers and/or an owner get the legal justificiation to ask people to move along and what infractions they can cite if that request is refused. My hunch is the infraction is trespassing even within the right of way.

    As per the township records, what is the extent of your property line to the easement?

    Also, please cite the source - with available reference - to where the Huron township refers to easements?

    Did you, as the property owner, authorize the township to erect the crash barriers along the side of the roadway?

    Please cite - and link - a source on where you found this;
