Just saw this on TV on Law & Order Criminal Intent tonight & I was wondering if manipulating someone but not telling them to do a crime is, still a crime.
Specifically, if you say manipulate someone into killing someone without directly telling them or encouraging them to do a crime, can you be charged with murder or any other crime?
Hypothetical situation is you know someone is extremely jealous and violent about anyone they think is fooling around with their wife. There's someone you don't like and you tell the violent married guy that you heard the guy you don't like is sleeping with his wife. He then proceeds to kill the guy. Can you be charged with murder or any other crime? What if you told him the truth- that is if he really was sleeping with the guys wife?
