My friend currently got terminated from Target for stealing $20 worth of gift card. He is being charged with felony burgulary and doesn't know what to do. This is his first charge and he has a clean background. Here's my question:
1)Is this severe enough to be a felony, since its only 20$ and he already paid it back to Target?
2)Can the judge lower the felony charge if he pleads guilty?
3)Should my friend hire a private lawyer or go with public lawyer?
My friend is scared and feels sorry for what he's done.
